THE HISTORY
OF A TERRITORY
Domaine des Salamandres was born out of a series of
heart-touching discoveries made during family jaunts: the gentle valleys of Hemmingford, the heritage house, emblematic Covey Hill. This natural corner is endowed with an exceptional biodiversity, where woodlands, orchards and vineyards all border one another. And of special note, it’s home to the greatest variety of salamanders in Québec, including the Allegheny mountain dusky salamander.
A SECOND SKIN
Starting the business was a second life for us, the pursuit of a dream: the dream of putting down roots and of living together on this land that we ourselves chose. Courtesy of Sylvain’s knowhow, developed in an area orchard, we had the basics for embarking on our vine-growing project. It was Denise who finally suggested we take the plunge into the agricultural world, in 2006, and to officially found Domaine des Salamandres.
GRAPE AND PEARS
Right after the first vines were planted, a major frost destroyed half the stock. Thanks to our production model, diversified even at that early stage between two types of crop, we were able to avoid losing everything. Today, that tandem lies at the heart of our positioning and the firm’s distinctiveness: Domaine des Salamandres: wines and pear ciders.
Fifteen years on, the estate offers visitors a very special place for discovering distinctive products. Our working methods remain in harmony with a region and a biodiversity that have captivated us from the outset.
